Smoky Black Bean Burger

You won’t miss the classic, greasy burger with this Smoky Black Bean Burger recipe because it hits all the right notes when it comes to a satisfying burger! The smokiness adds the barbeque element, while the black beans and oats add a meaty texture that gives the burger some weight, not to mention a good dose of fibre and iron.

Yellow Onion

Black Beans
1 handful
Flat Leaf Parsley
1/4 tsp
Liquid Smoke
1 tsp
Cumin
1 tsp
Paprika
1/2 tsp
Sea Salt
3/4 cup
Steel Cut Oats
1 Tbsp
Ground Flax
3 Tbsp
Water
Instructions

MIX: the ground flax and the water and let sit.

PREHEAT: oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

PROCESS: the onions in the food processor, until well chopped.

ADD: the black beans, parsley, liquid smoke, cumin, paprika, sea salt, oats and flax mixture to the food processor. Process until the mixture is well combined but still textured.

SCOOP: the mixture out with a ½ cup measuring cup. Form into patties and place on the baking sheet.

BAKE: for 15 minutes, flip the patties, and bake for another 15 minutes.

Substitutions: No liquid smoke? Use smoked paprika instead.
